AOIT Art Final Exam Part 3

1.   Success: Which project was your most successful? Use two of the artistic behaviors to explain your answer. Include photo.

The most successful piece of art I have done this year was the sticky note project of Morgan Freeman.  In order to make sticky note art of Morgan Freeman, we found an online picture of him and put it into photoshop and then used gradient map.  This made him a mixture of colors from light and dark green, yellow, and dark and light blue.  Then we made it mosaic so that he was made of squares and you could make out who the picture was of from a distance.  The mosaic allowed us to stay organized when putting the different color sticky notes on the construction paper.  Once we finished sticking the sticky notes onto the big piece of construction paper, we hung it up in C building.  You could not realize who the picture was of unless standing farther away.

The two artistic behaviors we used while creating this work of art, were "We Collaborate", and "I Reflect".  We collaborated during this project because we helped each other in our group out and asked each other questions.  We also made a process by telling eachother what color sticky note goes on what number of the grid, and we had to collaborate in order to hand up the construction paper.  Our group reflected by sitting back and planning before so we didn't get to greedy, and we analyzed it before just going straight at it without thinking about it.

2. Do Over: If given the opportunity, which project would you do over? Describe why and how you would redo this project. Reasons might include choosing a different theme, using a different medium or creating a different idea completely. Include Photo.

If I could go back and re do any project, it would be the anamorphosis.  I think that we could have made this project a lot better if we used a different object and stuck to our original plan in using a coke bottle instead of a coffee cup.  Also, if we had more time to do this, it would have came out a lot better and make it look like it was standing up from the ground better.  We needed to plan out our grid and outline the inside of the boxes better and more neat.  The time really cut us off because by the end we were rushing through the painting process, and if everyone would have put in more effort in the drawing and planning, it would have came out better and neater.

AOIT Art Final Exam Part 2

Part Two: Critique personal art based on reflective inquiry.

1.   Select one work of artwork
2.   Pick one Artistic Behavior from the rubric (linked above).
3.   For the artwork, answer the questions that go along with the Artistic Behavior

*I communicate through my work.*

This piece of art shows my self-expression and personal interests.  The meaning behind this artwork that I made is that I spend most of my time on the lacrosse field and it is a big part of my life.  As a freshman on a 4 time state champion varsity high school team, and being on a year around club team, most of my time spent outside of school is on the field.  Inside the frame is a picture of me in my uniform and standing on the turf.  The reason why everything else is black and white is because the main focus of the picture is what is inside of that frame.  This artwork is obviously about who I am (an athlete), and what I like (lacrosse).  It is intended to say this through the hints in the artwork such as the main focus on the field inside of the frame.

AOIT Art Final Exam Part 1

1.   Select two works of art
2.   For each work:

           A.  Write one paragraph explaining how the role of art played in creating the technology piece
1) The role of art played a role in creating this technology piece (ipad drawing), because before I put it onto the ipad, I had to print out a picture of my shoe and hand draw it so that I could transport it onto the ipad.  Next, after I got the drawing onto the ipad, I had to use my art skills to make this piece of technology by deciding things such as the color, texture, print, and shading.  I used these art skills to make the drawing more realistic.

        B. Write one paragraph explaining how the technology play a role in making the art
          1)   Technology played a role in making this piece of art (Morgan Freeman), because the first step of the process was to put that effect on him with the three colors (green, yellow, and blue), and then to make him into about 30 squares per the length and height.  The squares allowed us to use sticky notes so we could see Morgan Freeman from a distance and make it more grid like so we know exactly where each sticky note went on the construction paper by numbering and marking off the ones we had down to stay more organized.  This was called mosaic. The color effect allowed us to stick with three colors to make life easier and have the exact shade of the exact color for each box on the grid.  We did all of this through photoshop.

Anamorphosis

We went to the computer lab one day and chose a picture from Google to make realistic.  I chose a starbucks coffee cup and went to photoshop and made it longer and transformed it so that if you look from a specific angle. it looks like it is standing on the desk.  I printed it out and girded it inch by inch.  My group and I decided to make a giant picture of this on the street outside of the trailer.  We looked at year grid on the picture and drew exactly what we saw onto the chalk grid on the cement.  When we finished this, we painted the final product and it resulted in the picture below.

Monster Project

For the monster project, Emma's mom's 1st grade class each drew monsters for us which we were each assigned to.  The first step of the process was to draw it so it was more clean and legible.  Next we made clay sculptures of our monsters and then painted them.  After, we went to the lab and made labels for a toy box of our own toy (front and back).  After we spray painted a cereal box, we clued these labels on and cut out a spot for the toy to sit. Soon we will go deliver these toys to the kids to keep for themselves.  Below is the girls (Maggie) drawing, and the final product.

Morgan Freeman Sticky Note Art Project

In order to make sticky note art of Morgan Freeman, we found an online picture of him and put it into photoshop and then used gradient map.  This made him a mixture of colors from light and dark green, yellow, and dark and light blue.  Then we made it mosaic so that he was made of squares and you could make out who the picture was of from a distance.  The mosaic allowed us to stay organized when putting the different color sticky notes on the construction paper.  Once we finished sticking the sticky notes onto the big piece of construction paper, we hung it up in C building.  You could not realize who the picture was of unless standing farther away.  Many people could tell that it was Morgan Freeman.  Below are pictures throughout the process...

Monster Drawing

A first grader named Maggie drew me a picture of here creative monster.  When I got it, I re drew it to make it better and more clean and neat.  Next, using clay, I sculpted the monster and put it in the kiln.  It is not ready yet, but today I came to the computer lab and using photoshop I drew a digital drawing of the monster.  When the sculpture is ready, I will paint it and bring it to Maggie as if it were a new toy she can play with.

Walking Monkey Animation

I made a monkey and cut out all of the moving parts of the body. Next I took about 8 different pictures of it moving in different sets.  I put it on photoshop and played all of the layers at 0.2 seconds and created a walking monkey.

Sweet Tarts Animation

To create the sweet tarts animation I took different pictures of the green sweet tart in different spots to make it look like only that was moving back and forth.  I put it in photoshop and inserted all the layers into a moving animation which made my final product.

Newamal-Puppy-Elephant

My assigned animal for when we went to the zoo is the elephant.  I mixed the elephant with a puppy (american cattle dog), because I love puppies.  First, I cropped out an elephant trunk and blended it onto the dogs nose, using blur and smudge.  I did the same with the two elephant ears.  After I was happy with my photoshop, I sharpened the picture to make everything stand out and more realistic.  Below is the end result.

Self Description Photoshop

I used a simple picture of me holding a frame, and photoshopped it so that it looked like I was standing in uniform on the lacrosse field.  I photoshopped my game jersey for Apex Varsity women's Lacrosse onto my body and the field in the background.  Next I made the main picture black and white to draw attention to the frame.  This describes me because I am out on the lacrosse field a majority of time.

Photoshop

Today I made a ladys face look 100 times better.  I removed her moles and zits by using the bandaid tool in photoshop.  Next I blurred out her whole face except her eyes, eyebrows, lips, and hair to make her face look smoother.  Below are the before and after results.

AOIT PHOTOGRAPHY UNIT

In AOIT Art One we are taking a look at Photography as our new unit. Yesterday, we tried our hand at a little Forced Perspective.  Below are some photos.

Today, we decided to give light drawing a try.  It's easier to say than to do. It takes a lot of trial and error to get an image that looks good. However, in it's simplest form, it is nothing more than a glow stick and a camera with a slow shutter speed.  Below are some of my pictures I did with light.

Illustration Unit

Below is my pinterest link for the illustration unit.

I painted a icy sunset.  I did this because I liked the domed perspective.  The view is from inside of an icy cave and looking out into a sunset.  I got my idea from an online paining (the first photo shown).

Final comic

I finally have finished my comic.   It is about two boys named Freddy and Jeddy, who go on a walk with Keddy, Peddy, and Teddy and the adventure they go on.  I colored certain things in the pictures to make certain things stand out in the illustrations.

Cartoon unit

Cartoon Questions:

1) Whats the difference between anime and manga?
Anime is more cartoonish such as Mickey mouse, and manga is more like pictures/comics (more realistic) such as Howl's Moving Castle.

2) Whats the difference between a graphic novel and a comic book?
A graphic novel is more like a book with a full conclusion, and a comic book is shorter and has series to it.

3) How are panels designed and layout in comic books, newspapers, and graphic novels?
They are designed from left to right, row to row.

Pancake Mouth

Today in art class i photo shopped jaws into a pancake.  I thought this was a cool add on because pancakes to me are really yummy, and you cant taste that without a mouth..........
I used liquify to separate two pancakes to insert the jaws, but made it look realistic at the same time.

Zac Efron and I

Today in art class I photoshopped Zac into a picture with me because he is attractive.  It made us look like we were together to make everyone jealous.  I used liquify so it did not look like three different pictures.  Also, a simple white brick wall as the background was the simplest way to do things.

George and I

Today I went to art in the computer lab and photo shopped George and I into a picture together in New York City.  This was fun to learn the skill for future references.  I learned how to delete the background of a picture and crop things into others to make it look more realistic.  George was jumping into my arms cause he loves me.
